Congratulations to Eugenia Schatoff, who New Rochelle Public Library (NY) named as their next Library Director, effective October 1, 2024. Schatoff was selected as the New York Library Association’s Innovative Library Director of the Year in 2023. A visionary change agent and advocate for public libraries and their communities, she received a Congressional Woman of Distinction Award in 2024 for championing free and open access to information, fighting against censorship, and focusing on technology and sustainability in librarianship. Her public library career began at the Albany Public Library as a Clerk, continued on as an intern in the Community Relations Department working on their bookmobile. Energized by her experiences, Eugenia worked her way up in the industry, first as a teen librarian, then school librarian, and ultimately as a Library Director. In Eugenia’s most recent role at Pearl River Public Library, she oversaw a successful $14.35 million dollar bond referendum campaign to renovate the existing building.
