Congratulations to Katonah Village Library upon the selection of Catherine Riedel as the Library’s next Director.
A passionate advocate for literacy, lifelong learning, and inclusive community space, Catherine is committed to executing the directives of the Board of Trustees while working closely with staff to develop a workspace that is collaborative and inclusive. Currently the Assistant Director of the Rye (NY) Free Reading Room, recent initiatives include an Innovative Play Space for Children, a book “Pairing to Pies” program, a summertime outdoor family music series, plus yoga and mindfulness programs. Catherine strongly believes public libraries are the cornerstones of communities and endeavors to make public libraries a welcoming, innovative, and accessible space for all. Catherine served as a Board Member and co-chaired the 2019 Annual Conference of the Westchester Library Association. In 2018, she was selected for the Connecticut State Library “Excite Transformation for Libraries” training program, which applies the principles of Human Centered Design Thinking to public library innovation.
