BMA congratulates Port Jervis Free Library as they selected Elizabeth (Beth) Wolpert to become their next Library Director. Beth is a leader with eighteen years of experience in libraries, including a decade in senior roles, most recently as the North Regional Manager for the Jersey City Free Public Library. Beth oversaw five branches and one satellite location, led capital projects, space redesigns, and large-scale staff recruitment across the North Region. Beth served on the system’s Discovery Layer selection committee and developed onboarding resources in partnership with the Association of Talent Development. Previously, as Director of the Daniel Pierce Library in Grahamsville, NY, Beth secured over $80,000 in grants and rebates for solar and LED infrastructure, passed the system’s first budget referendum in five years, and led an ILS and website migration. Beth also spent nearly eight years as Library Chairperson at St. Francis Preparatory School, the largest private Catholic high school in the U.S., where she redesigned the space and managed technology infrastructure supporting over 90 devices, a 30,000-item print collection, and 80 databases. Beth holds an MA in Urban Affairs and an MLS, both from Queens College–CUNY, and a BA in Sociology from Fordham University. She served as co-editor of the Directory of Long Island Libraries and Media Centers for two editions.
