Congratulations to the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey and to Peter Bromberg, who has been selected to become the organization’s next Library Director. Peter brings over 25 years of executive management experience to the role, having distinguished himself as an innovative, human-centered leader who believes that listening, collaboration, and meaningful partnerships anchored in common cause and shared values lead to sustainable health and success for organizations and the people that power them. Before accepting this position with SCLSNJ, Peter was the Associate Director at EveryLibrary, an organization advocating for public libraries and intellectual freedom. Prior to that work, Peter was the Executive Director of the Salt Lake City Library, and was honored with a Distinguished Service Award from the American Society for Public Administrators for his leadership in eliminating many inequitable barriers to service. The hallmarks of Peter’s career have been the ability to think and act strategically, listen and communicate clearly and compassionately, co-create collaborative visionary programs and services, develop the strengths of others through mentoring and coaching, and build partnerships and alliances to accomplish big things together.
