BMA wishes Jason Shirley the best as he takes on the leadership role of Library Director at Byron Public Library District. Having started out as a bookseller for both independent bookstores and Barnes and Noble, Jason moved through his career close to customer service and managing collections and people through experience as a manager and corporate trainer for Follet and later, Ingram Library Services and Midwest Tape, LLC. While his work was library-adjacent, he decided to pursue an MLIS degree. During his graduate school coursework, Jason was the Director at Towanda District Library. He then moved on to Normal Public Library, the Normal Public Library Foundation, and most recently Jason was the Library Director of the Mount Hope Funks Grove Public Library District. Jason’s wealth of experience and diversified perspectives of library work will benefit the Byron Public Library District as a whole, and we are excited to see what is in store for that library and community.
